A powerful explosion occurred in the Mezze district in the Syrian capital of Damascus, the Amad portal reported on June 24.
It is noted that several important military and security facilities are located in the area, and therefore it is a potential target for numerous attacks.
Later, the Reuters news agency, citing a source in the Syrian security forces, reported that the country's security forces had detonated ammunition left over from the exercises in Damascus. The sound of the explosion could be heard throughout the city.
"On Tuesday evening, local residents heard a loud explosion and saw a column of smoke rising in the western districts of the city. As a result of the controlled explosion, no one was injured," the media writes.
On June 22, a terrorist attack was reported in Damascus. The terrorist first opened fire on people in the church, and then detonated an explosive device. Later it was reported that there were two attackers. The next day, it was reported that the death toll from the explosion at a church in Damascus had increased to 25 people, and 63 more were injured.
