The harvesting campaign of winter crops has started in the Krasnodar Territory. Farmers have already threshed 35,000 hectares of barley and peas in 16 districts, the head of the region, Veniamin Kondratiev, said on social media on Tuesday, June 24.

More than 40 thousand agricultural machines, including 8 thousand combine harvesters, are involved in the harvest. To date, about 160 thousand tons of grain have been harvested. In total, grain growers will have to harvest more than 1.7 million hectares of winter crops.

"The work is carried out in close cooperation with scientists, which makes it possible to effectively apply advanced technologies and increase yields. We hope that thanks to the work of the villagers we will get a decent harvest," Vladimirov wrote, quoted by KrasnodarMedia news agency.

The collected products are sent to grain drying complexes and elevators. There are 45 grain receiving enterprises in the region, with a one-time storage capacity of 4.4 million tons. Farmers can store about 8.5 million tons of grain on their own.

The enterprises were provided with the necessary equipment and fuel and lubricants. Due to the drought, an emergency regime has been introduced in eight municipalities. This made it possible to promptly provide targeted support to farms affected by the heat.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that Russia and Qatar are discussing the creation of an agro-industrial hub in the monarchy. If specific agreements are reached, the initiative may open up new export opportunities for Russian manufacturers.
