The area of the forest fire in the area of the village of Atamanovka in the Trans-Baikal Territory has increased to 4.5 thousand hectares. This was announced on June 24 by the press service of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

"For the fifth day, a forest fire on 4.5 thousand hectares has been operating near the village of Atamanovka. Employees of the department defend dacha cooperatives, children's camps and economic facilities," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that the situation is stable and there is no direct threat to the residential area. More than 250 specialists and 65 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire, including an IL-76 aircraft, two Be-200ChS aircraft and an Mi-8 helicopter of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations.

On the same day, it was reported that in the Trans-Baikal Territory, private houses in the SNT "Locomotive" almost completely burned down as a result of a forest fire in the region. It was clarified that many forest areas are covered with smoke from fires throughout the region. At the same time, fire services and equipment are working at the scene of the incident.
