The government Commission on Legislative Activity has approved amendments to a draft law granting non-profit organizations (NPOs) the right to receive the status of an official page on social networks, government sources told Izvestia. The document is available to the editorial staff.

The draft law proposes to amend the federal law "On Non-Profit Organizations," said Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Association of Lawyers of Russia (AYUR).

"Non-profit organizations enjoy a certain credit of trust from citizens. Their official social media pages are often tampered with by scammers. Social networks are understood as information systems and computer programs defined by the government of the Russian Federation," he said.

The bill establishes the right of NGOs to create a page on social networks, as well as the right to obtain an official status for the page. According to the expert, a special identification and authentication mechanism will be provided for this purpose.

On April 21, the Government Commission on Legislative Activity approved a draft law on the procedure for using forest lands for the construction, reconstruction and operation of hydraulic structures. It was reported that this document is aimed at preserving forests. The amendments will help to avoid unauthorized placement of hydraulic engineering facilities on the territory of forests
