The media warned of the possibility of a fatal NATO crisis under Trump

The NATO alliance is experiencing its most dangerous crisis in 75 years and is on the verge of collapse after the re-election of Donald Trump as president of the United States. This was reported by Bloomberg on June 24.
"Trump is not the only source of the NATO crisis, but he certainly has the ability to make it fatal," the publication says.
It is noted that Trump's re-election and the speech of Vice President J. D. Vance in Munich after his inauguration plunged the North Atlantic Treaty Organization into deep alarm. The current situation is said to be the closest to collapse in the entire history of the alliance, which has already had several major crises.
"NATO is currently being tested by four convergent crises that go deeper than the devastating consequences of Trump: a security crisis, a crisis of preparation, a crisis of priorities, and a crisis of trust," the agency's material says.
At the same time, Trump has the opportunity to destroy the alliance by reducing the US presence in Europe and undermining trust between the countries of the alliance. Such an approach will lead to a noticeable weakening of Europe, the rise of right-wing illiberal forces, as well as an increase in conflict in the region.
However, the US president may take a different path. European countries are taking on increased spending on NATO's military needs, while the United States is strengthening European defense with its advanced capabilities — aviation, transport and logistics, command and control, as well as a powerful nuclear deterrent.
"The main question of the coming years is whether Trump will agree with what his predecessors agreed on: that NATO, for all its difficulties, is still vital — both for the world and for the United States itself," Bloomberg summarizes.
On June 23, the Financial Times reported on the dissatisfaction of NATO members due to the pressure of German Defense Minister Pistorius on Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth on the withdrawal of American forces from Europe. According to the publication, representatives of the member countries of the North Atlantic Alliance believe that the corresponding requirement for the United States will only "create a self—fulfilling prophecy."
