The Vityaz hockey club near Moscow will not play in the 2025/2026 season of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). The corresponding statement was published on the league's official website on June 24.

"The Vityaz Hockey Club (Moscow Region) has notified the KHL of the suspension of the participation of the KHL and MHL teams in the Fonbet KHL Championship and the OLIMPBET MHL Championship of the 2025/2026 season," the statement said.

It is noted that the KHL Board of Directors will consider changes to the league's membership, in particular, the transfer of Tolyatti Lada from the Eastern to the Western Conference.

On June 9, the KHL amended the rules before the start of the 2025/26 season in order to increase the entertainment and dynamics of the game. It is clarified that now the team is prohibited from changing players on the ice before the throw-in if the goalkeeper presses the puck, which is directed by his own hockey player, and causes a stoppage in the match.
