Germany warned about the negative consequences of an increase in the military budget

Increasing Germany's defense spending will not make it safer, but it will lead to the creation of a welfare state. This was announced on June 24 by Sarah Wagenknecht, leader of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party.
"Another €100 billion for weapons and tanks, a tripling of the military budget in four years is just terrible. Who will stop this gigantic burning of taxpayers' money? These plans will not make our country safer, but will lead to the creation of our welfare state," Wagenknecht wrote on her page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
It is specified that such a statement was made after the news about the increase in the German military budget to € 150 billion by 2029. According to Wagenknecht, this idea will contribute to reducing pensions and create a threat to the healthcare sector.
She stressed that future generations of German citizens will continue to pay loans for modernization when these "weapons and tanks" have "long since rusted."
On May 7, it was reported that German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius plans to increase military spending to over €60 billion per year. Earlier in February, he said that the budget of his department should be doubled, to more than €100 billion. At the same time, according to him, the state still should not save on other areas for the sake of this.
