The Russian Foreign Ministry assessed the prospects of opening new embassies in Latin America

Russia is ready to expand its diplomatic presence in Latin America if necessary. Alexander Shchetinin, Director of the Latin American Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, told Izvestia on June 24.

"The current level of diplomatic representation in Latin American countries allows us to promote our relations. If the situation requires an expansion of our diplomatic presence, we will certainly resolve it," he said.

The diplomat noted that so far the Russian Federation is working at the level at which it is, and it is the most optimal in the current situation.
