- Lavrov pointed to the ambivalent interpretation of the UN Charter by Western countries.

The Charter of the United Nations (UN) is the most just international document that has ever been adopted, but Western countries violate or take its principles out of context. This was announced on Tuesday, June 24, by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
At the same time, he noted that Moscow stands for the implementation of the principles of the UN Charter.
"Our Western colleagues, as you know, use a logic that fits into their philosophy of rule-based order. No one has seen the rules, but they apply them," he said during a speech at the XI International Scientific and Expert Forum Primakov Readings.
As an example, Lavrov cited the West's position on Kosovo, as well as on the events in Donbas.
"And without a referendum, without anything, they just announced that Kosovo is independent from now on. The West immediately supported everything," the Russian Foreign Minister recalled.
At the same time, when the referendum was held in Crimea, the Lugansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic declared independence, which the West called a gross violation of the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity, Lavrov added.
On May 28, the Russian Foreign Minister said that the stability of the world order largely depends on the West's rejection of the policy of pressure and compliance with the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
