In Moscow, law enforcement officers detained seven participants in a fraudulent scheme to receive funds from the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund for allegedly providing dental services in private clinics. The damage amounted to more than 50 million rubles. This was announced on June 24 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation Irina Volk.

"Seven members of the organized group are suspected of criminal activity, which was committed under the pretext of providing medical services," her Telegram channel says.

The attackers illegally used personal data of citizens to issue medical records. Since 2021, information about the alleged dental care has been included in them.

The fraudsters provided this data to the Compulsory Medical Insurance Fund, with which a contract was concluded for the payment of specialized services. However, funds from the state budget were transferred to clinics under their control and appropriated by the accomplices of the crime.

An investigator from the Department of Internal Affairs for the Southern Administrative District of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow opened a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").

Searches were conducted, and the defendants were charged. Six of them were given a preventive measure in the form of a written undertaking not to leave, one in the form of house arrest.

On May 31, the Russian Interior Ministry warned citizens about a method of fraud in which intruders force people to call them themselves using numbers that pose as "technical support" for "Public Services." It was clarified that a letter about "illegal access" to "Public Services" was sent to the potential victim's e-mail or messenger. Through the letter, the scammers urge you to contact "technical support", the number of which belongs to them.
