Over the past day, 335 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 23 people were killed and 399 injured. Four of the dead were pedestrians, the remaining 19 were drivers and passengers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on June 24 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Russian Interior Ministry.

As a result of 76 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 42 outside their area of operation, 73 pedestrians were injured of varying severity. Among the injured were 20 underage pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.

10 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which two people were killed, and 11 more road users, including two children, required medical assistance. Four bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.

62 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 67 young road users were injured, including 28 passengers, five cyclists and seven motor transport drivers under the age of 16. A minor motorcyclist was killed in one of the accidents.

So, late in the evening in one of the rural settlements of Yakutia, a 15-year-old schoolboy, driving his father's motorcycle, which he took without permission, at an unregulated intersection at the exit from a secondary road to the main road, did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a passenger car driven by an 18-year-old driver. The young motorcyclist died. He was not issued a driver's license, as well as the motorist whose vehicle he collided with. The deceased teenager rode a motorcycle without a helmet and protective equipment.

The State Traffic Inspectorate drew the attention of parents to the need to monitor the leisure time of school-age children during the summer holidays, as well as the availability of vehicles for them. Children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category should not leave the keys to motorcycles and vehicles, thereby eliminating the very possibility of their dangerous trip.

In addition, the State Traffic Inspectorate reminded pedestrians that according to traffic regulations, they must cross the road at pedestrian crossings, and in their absence — at intersections along sidewalks or roadsides. At unregulated pedestrian crossings, pedestrians can enter the roadway only after they assess the distance to approaching vehicles, their speed, and make sure that the crossing will be safe for them.

When crossing roads and driving along roadsides or the edge of the carriageway at night or in conditions of insufficient visibility, pedestrians are advised (and outside populated areas they are required) to carry objects with retroreflective elements and ensure that these objects are visible to drivers of vehicles. Motorists should be extremely careful when approaching pedestrian crossings and crossing intersections, especially unregulated or with roundabouts.

"Never rush through them as quickly as possible, thereby interfering with other road users, including pedestrians. Be collected and careful, leaving yourself plenty of time to react adequately to a possible change in the traffic situation at any moment. When approaching unregulated pedestrian crossings, reduce the speed as much as possible until the vehicle stops completely in order to allow pedestrians to pass," said Police Colonel Sergey Hrantskevich, head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of child traffic injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

On June 16, it was reported that the number of people killed in road accidents in Russia has decreased with an increase in the number of accidents. So, from January to May 2025, 44.4 thousand deaths occurred in Russia. Accidents with deaths or injuries, which is 0.7% more than in the same period last year. The number of dead in them amounted to 4.6 thousand people (-1.9%), and the wounded — 55.7 thousand people (+0.5%).
