The Investigative Committee has identified those who organized the export of residents of the Kursk region to Ukraine

The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has identified the commanders of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), who led the export of residents of the Kursk region to Ukraine. This was announced on June 24 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation Svetlana Petrenko.

"Military investigators, in cooperation with the FSB of Russia, have obtained information about the involvement of officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the hostage—taking of residents of the Kursk region and their removal from the territory of the Russian Federation," she said.

According to the incident, officials of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military commandant Major General Eduard Moskalev and the press officer of the commandant's office, Colonel Alexei Dmitrashkovsky, are suspected of committing crimes in accordance with paragraphs "a" and "b" of Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Terrorist act"), paragraphs "a", "d206 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Hostage-taking"). According to the investigation, under their command, militants in the city of Suja took civilians hostage. After that, they took them out of the territory of the Russian Federation and illegally detained them until May 2025 in the Sumy region of Ukraine.

At the moment, military investigators are interrogating civilians and establishing the circumstances of the incident. In addition, forensic examinations have also been appointed, which will determine the severity of the damage caused to the health of the victims. Based on the results of the investigation, a criminal and legal assessment of the actions of those involved will be given.

Earlier, on June 23, Petrenko reported that the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation had opened criminal cases into the attacks by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on villages in the Kursk region. Military investigators also documented the circumstances of particularly serious crimes.
