The Russian government has supported amendments to the Administrative Code, which involve tougher penalties for drivers who do not allow special vehicles with flashing lights without coloring on board. This was reported by Kommersant on June 24.

The deputies propose to introduce a clause in Article 12.17 of the Administrative Code on the non-admission of vehicles with blue and red special signals turned on, but without a color scheme on board, as well as vehicles accompanied by them. The initiative provides for a fine in the amount of 5.5 thousand to 7.5 thousand rubles or the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of six months to a year.

The authors of the bill announced a significant increase in the number of cases when drivers refuse to let cars pass with one or more flashing lights, but without special coloring on board.

Now, for refusing to let a car pass with a blue flashing light and a special sound signal turned on at the same time, the violator faces a warning or a fine of 500 rubles. For not allowing a car with the blue "flashing light" turned on and color schemes and inscriptions on board (for example, an ambulance), the violator can be fined from 4.5 thousand to 7.5 thousand rubles or deprived of his rights for a period of three months to one year.

On May 28, the Ministry of Transport published a draft amendment to the rules of the road (SDA), clarifying the duties of drivers when approaching vehicles with special signals turned on. It says that "when approaching a vehicle with a blue flashing light and a special sound signal, drivers are required to give way or clear the lane."
