The plan to nationalize the Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) company, which is owned by Samvel Karapetyan, a Russian businessman and head of the Tashir Group of companies, is ready and will come into effect soon. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this on June 24.

"The nationalization plan of Electric Networks of Armenia CJSC is ready. Very soon we will move on to the practical phase," he wrote on his Facebook page (the social network belongs to the Meta company, whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

Pashinyan clarified that all processes related to nationalization will be carried out in accordance with Armenian legislation.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Armenia has already expressed his intention to nationalize the "Electric Networks of Armenia." Pashinyan stressed that this goal will be achieved quickly.

On June 17, it was reported that Karapetyan was being tried to be detained for speaking out in support of the Armenian Apostolic Church (AAC). It was clarified that Interior Ministry officers arrived at Karapetyan's house immediately after he made a statement in defense of the church. Later, his lawyer Armen Feroyan stated that the businessman was charged with publicly calling for the seizure of power in Armenia.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on June 17 that Russia would assist Karapetyan in respecting his legitimate rights.
