Russians Gonchar and Mogilny have become candidates for inclusion in the NHL Hall of Fame

Russian hockey players Sergey Gonchar and Alexander Mogilny have been included in the list of candidates for inclusion in the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto. This was announced on June 24 by the press service of the National Hockey League (NHL).

A total of 23 players are included in the list.

Gonchar is 51 years old, a hockey player who is a two-time Olympic medalist in 1998 and 2002. The defender played for the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Penguins, Ottawa Senators, Dallas Stars and Montreal Canadiens. In 2009, he won the Stanley Cup with the Penguins. During his career, he scored 811 points in regular season games and 90 in the playoffs.

Mogilny is 56 years old, and as a member of the USSR national team, he won gold medals at the Olympic Games in 1988 and the World Championships in 1989. In the NHL, he played for the Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, New Jersey Devils and Toronto Maple Leafs. He won the Stanley Cup with the Devils in 2000.

On June 18, the Florida Panthers hockey Club defeated the Edmonton Oilers 5-1 in the sixth game of the NHL Playoff finals and won the Stanley Cup. Thanks to this victory, Florida became the NHL champion and trophy winner for the second time in a row.
