Orban announced attempts to hinder Ukraine's integration at the NATO and EU summits

Hungary will hinder Ukraine's integration into the alliance and the community at the NATO and European Union (EU) summits this week, as this will lead to "economic chaos" and escalation of the conflict. This was announced on Monday, June 23, by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
"We want peace and security, and therefore we want to prevent NATO and the EU from establishing institutional relations with Ukraine that would lead to <escalation> and financial chaos in our countries. <...> Any steps in this direction must be avoided!" he wrote on Facebook (owned by Meta, a company whose activities are recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).
According to Orban, for him as prime Minister, this will be the 15th NATO summit and the 112th EU summit. The politician noted that Hungary's position will also be supported by the opinion of more than 2 million citizens of the country.
On June 11, Orban said that the decision of the EU countries to start financially supporting the conflict in Ukraine and at the same time abandon the consumption of energy resources from Russia led to a deep crisis and a real economic catastrophe for the EU.
