Advertisements for energy companies will warn about the dangers of health
Advertisements for energy drinks and tonic drinks may be required to include a health warning. The Cabinet of Ministers gave a positive response to such a bill, subject to its completion.
The bill proposes to amend the Federal Law "On Advertising" in terms of establishing the specifics of advertising non-alcoholic tonic drinks, including energy drinks, said Vladimir Gruzdev, Chairman of the Board of the Russian Bar Association.
"Advertising of these drinks will be accompanied by a warning about the dangers of their excessive consumption. Radio, television, film and video services will also have requirements for the minimum display area of the warning on the screen. Roughly speaking, this is a requirement for the visibility and size of the warning text," he said.
The expert added that the previously adopted legislation also implies changes in terms of advertising aimed at minors.
"It is planned to add a rule to prevent the potential promotion of the use of tonic drinks among children: advertising of tonic drinks should not be addressed to minors, contain information about dietary supplements, vitamins, and also use images of animals and people, including through animation," he said.
