The expert assessed Sechin's report at the SPIEF

In his report at the SPIEF Energy Panel, Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin outlined key trends in the global energy sector. This was stated on the air of the Big Game program of Channel One by Alexander Dynkin, President of IMEMO RAS.,
According to Dynkin, the report "The Odyssey of the global economy in search of the Golden Fleece. The new face of global energy" outlines the most important key trends in the modern global economy. These are the rapid growth of global debt, the militarization of Europe under US pressure, the growing bias in favor of American defense contractors, and more.
Separately, Dynkin drew attention to the threat of a 500% duty on Russian oil voiced by American Senator Lindsey Gama (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in Russia). As noted by Dynkin, the realization of such a threat could lead to a serious destabilization of the global market.
Another important factor, according to Dynkin, was Sechin's forecast of China's transformation from the largest importer of energy resources to an exporter of energy, which requires Russia to adapt its export policy. At the same time, despite massive investments in the "green economy" in the West, the share of renewable sources in the global energy mix has increased from only 2 to 6 percent.
"When large packages of sanctions were imposed against us, I believe that the oilmen accomplished a feat. They shifted, as we say in jargon, export flows from left to right in one year. There were 80 percent of EU countries, now 80 percent go to Asia. This is a very difficult task, and I can only compare it with what our country solved in the third or fourth quarter of 1941, when 80% of industry was transferred from West to East in two quarters. And 18 million people. This is an outstanding event," said Dynkin.
Russia remains a key player in the energy market, despite sanctions and geopolitical pressure, the expert concluded after discussing Sechin's report. But to maintain its leadership, the industry needs support, technological breakthroughs and new strategic partnerships, he said.
