The doctor explained the dizziness when wearing glasses for the first time

Dizziness and nausea when wearing glasses for the first time are a normal reaction of the body associated with the adaptation of the brain. This was told by ophthalmic surgeon, Doctor of Medical Sciences Vyacheslav Kurenkov.
In conversation with aif.ru On Monday, June 23, the specialist emphasized that this is not a reason to abandon them.
"The brain begins to perceive a lot of details that were previously unnoticed. This overloads perception and causes dizziness, nausea, and even headaches," the doctor explained.
According to him, the symptoms go away over time as the brain adapts. Kurenkov added that with real visual impairments, eyeglass correction is necessary, but with false myopia, its appointment may be erroneous.
On June 19, ophthalmologist Igor Malyatsinsky, in an interview with RIAMO, warned that sunglasses should only be purchased at opticians or pharmacies. Experts recommend lenses labeled UV400, which block up to 100% of ultraviolet light and protect photoreceptors and retinal pigment epithelium from damage.
On June 16, doctor Kurenkov assessed the likelihood of maintaining vision without glasses. According to him, some people can do without them with age-related visual impairment due to the body's natural adaptation mechanisms.
In October, ophthalmologist Anna Semakina, in an interview with NSN, refuted the myth that glasses worsen children's eyesight: on the contrary, they prevent further falls and help to avoid problems such as "lazy eye". Without timely correction, there is a high risk of irreversible decrease in visual acuity in adulthood.
Earlier, doctor Elizaveta Krasnolutskaya warned that using VR glasses can cause dizziness and nausea. According to the expert, the symptoms of visual fatigue and decreased visual acuity are more pronounced in gamers than in office workers. The constant change of focus to different distances further increases the strain on the eyes, notes 360.ru .
