Russia's cooperation with the vast majority of countries on the African continent can be mutually beneficial. This was announced to Izvestia on June 23 by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.

According to him, after the collapse of the USSR, Russia lost its position in Africa, but the situation began to change.

"Over time, the mood in Africa has changed significantly. Let's just say that the neo-colonial trend is seriously boring for Africans. And this coincided with a period when Russia regained its strength, capabilities and desire to return to its former places on the African continent," Peskov said.

He stressed that Moscow and African countries have real opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation, noting that "this is a very positive process."

"Indeed, great opportunities are opening up for our African friends, and for us too," the Kremlin spokesman said.
