Some motorists think that the battery of an electric car needs to be replaced after 50,000 km of mileage, but this is a misconception. Lithium-ion batteries do lose capacity over time, but modern cooling and heating technologies slow down this process. Nikita Rodionov, technical director of the international franchise network of car service centers, told about this on June 23.

"The real degradation of a modern battery takes much longer. The wear pattern will be something like this: up to 15 thousand km of mileage, changes will not be noticeable at all, by 50 thousand km the battery of the electric train will lose only 20-30% of its capacity. Further, having reached a mileage of 80 thousand km, wear will begin to slow down and at least 60% of the power reserve will remain," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quotes Rodionov as saying.

Another myth is related to the prolonged charging of an electric car. According to the expert, fast charging stations allow you to get 100 km of mileage in just 15-30 minutes, and for a long time cars are charged from only ordinary household outlets. The myth of the impossibility of travel is also outdated, Rodionov stressed and pointed out that modern models have a range of up to 600 km, and the main thing is to plan the route correctly.

The expert also noted that electric vehicles do not overload the power grid, since the country's energy system has already adapted to the gradual increase in the number of electric cars, and such cars even contribute to the development of the system. For example, projects on the use of renewable energy sources are increasingly appearing. Finally, the auto expert denied rumors about difficulties in servicing such machines and pointed out that all large certified network service stations successfully work with electric cars and carry out the necessary work.

On June 6, it was reported that in May 2025, 786 electric vehicles were sold in Russia, which is 28% less than at the end of last spring (1,096 units). The result in May was also worse than in April, when 793 fully electric cars were sold in the country.
