On June 23, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department apologized for an "inappropriate and offensive" condolence post addressed to Iran after the US strikes on the country's nuclear facilities.

"We are publishing this statement to officially apologize for the offensive and inappropriate post posted on our department's social media platforms regarding the ongoing conflict in Iran," the statement said, the text of which was posted on the department's official page on the social network X (formerly. Twitter).

The document states that the inappropriate post was made by mistake, and it does not reflect the point of view of Sheriff Robert Luna or the department. The statement notes that the department has learned a lesson from this situation, and intends to prevent the recurrence of similar incidents in the future.

Earlier in the day, Fox News reported that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department in California had deleted a message of condolences to Iran. According to the TV channel, at first the agency deleted the mention of the US strikes, and then it decided to delete the post completely.
