The Russian Foreign Ministry told about the preparation of new contacts with the DPRK

New bilateral contacts are planned between Russia and the DPRK, including in connection with upcoming events on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese colonial rule. This was announced on June 23 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko in a commentary on the occasion of the first anniversary of the signing of the strategic partnership agreement between Moscow and Pyongyang.
"There has probably never been a time in history when our countries were so close. The strength of our ties, based on deep mutual understanding and trust, was tested during difficult times for us," Rudenko is quoted as saying on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
The diplomat noted that the current year includes events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea, which will be celebrated on October 10. He also stated his intention to continue implementing all the provisions of the bilateral agreement between the two countries and expressed confidence that cooperation would contribute to maintaining stability in Northeast Asia.
Earlier, on June 18, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, during a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, declared his continued support for the Russian Federation's policy of protecting sovereignty. He also confirmed Pyongyang's will to faithfully implement the strategic partnership agreement with Moscow.
