- The political scientist assessed the possibility of imposing EU sanctions against Israel over Iran.

The European Union (EU) will not impose sanctions on Israel for fear of coming into conflict with US President Donald Trump. Andrey Manoilo, Professor of the Faculty of Political Science at Lomonosov Moscow State University, expressed this opinion on Monday, June 23.
"I don't see much enthusiasm among the heads of European countries about sanctions against Israel, because the heads of European states see that Israel is not acting alone, it is acting in conjunction with the United States," the expert said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
According to the political scientist, it's one thing to have a conflict with Israel, another thing is to face Trump, who is impulsive, irritable, and there is no escalation that he could not go on principle.
"Some of the European leaders, maybe personally, maybe through their assistants, will express indignation, concern, and brand Israel with their last words, using all the rich vocabulary of their national languages, but that's the end of it," he concluded.
Earlier in the day, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that Ankara is making active efforts to prevent attacks on Iran from escalating into a major catastrophe, RT reports.
Erdogan stressed that Turkey does not approve of attacks on Iran, regardless of "who they come from." He stressed that the attacks on the Islamic Republic threaten its sovereignty and security in the region.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi on June 23, called the strikes on the territory of the republic an unprovoked aggression that has no justification. He also noted that against the background of the escalation of the Middle East conflict, Moscow is making efforts to assist the Iranian people.
