The GAC GS8 Dragon HEV full-size crossover will be the brand's first hybrid model in Russia. It received a 427-horsepower power plant, which includes a two-liter gasoline engine and an electric motor, the company said in a statement received by Izvestia on June 23.

Acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in a five-meter SUV takes 6.9 seconds, the average fuel consumption per 100 km is stated at 7.8 liters. Gasoline with an octane rating of 92 is allowed. The company said that the new product demonstrates one of the best noise insulation indicators in the class. The driver and passengers can talk in low voices at speeds above 100 km/h.

The multimedia system's interface is fully Russified, supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and provides access to VK online services. A voice assistant is provided that provides voice control of navigation, climate control, multimedia, telephone, sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, heated steering wheel and mirrors.

The GAC press service clarified to Izvestia that the all-wheel drive GS8 in the Dragon modification, which features an exterior design, will also be available with the model's usual 231-horsepower two-liter turbo engine and eight-speed Aisin automatic. Currently, the GAC GS8 is offered on the Russian market in five trim levels at prices ranging from 4.1 million to 4.95 million rubles (excluding benefits and discounts).

Earlier in the day, it was reported that three models of the Chinese brand GAC will begin to be assembled in Russia at the plant in St. Petersburg, where Hyundai and Kia cars were previously produced, and now they produce cars of the domestic brand Solaris. Later, the AGR Automobile Plant denied this statement and said that the company had no such intentions.
