Modern plastic surgery techniques allow you to safely adjust your appearance at any age, subject to careful preparation. Elizaveta Kochneva, a plastic surgeon at the Semeynaya Clinic, told Izvestia on June 24 what operations are available to patients over the age of 60 and how to minimize the risks of age-related changes.

The specialist notes that over the years, natural changes occur in the body: tissue regeneration slows down, skin elasticity decreases, and chronic diseases can worsen. However, this does not become an absolute contraindication to plastic surgery. Blepharoplasty for eyelid correction and various facelift options remain the most popular procedures among 60+ patients.

"SMAS lifting is still the gold standard for age-related patients. This technique works with deep layers of tissues, providing natural and long—term rejuvenation," explained Kochneva.

For less pronounced changes, she says, an endoscopic facelift is suitable, which is performed through minimal incisions.

Among other available procedures, the doctor named gentle liposuction methods and contouring with fillers. The specialist pays special attention to mammoplasty, which can solve not only aesthetic, but also physical problems associated with age-related breast ptosis.

However, the doctor clarified that before the operation it is necessary to undergo a full examination — to take tests, an ECG and consult with a therapist and a cardiologist.

"Age should not become an obstacle to improving the quality of life. With a competent approach and professional performance, plastic surgery after the age of 60 can be as safe as at a younger age," the surgeon emphasized.

Earlier, on May 21, internist Vladimir Beketov told Izvestia about products that accelerate the aging process. According to him, the less natural and more processed food is, the more it contributes to aging.
