Oleg Zubkov, director of the Crimean safari park "Taigan", attracted the lion's attention by the sharp sound of the door closing, as a result of which the predator attacked him. This was announced on June 23 by the park's press secretary, Tatiana Aleksagina.

According to the press secretary, on the day of the incident, she and Zubkov were feeding the lions. When leaving savannah, the director abruptly closed the door of the car, which attracted the beast.

"Oleg took two steps away from the car, one young lion was lying under a bush, eating a few meters away. And then the sharp sound of the door closing — Oleg Alekseevich began to close the door, for some reason it turned out abruptly, this sharp sound of the door closing - lev jumped up and ran," Aleksagina said.

She added that the lion did not tear Zubkov, the director just got in the way of the beast.

"Oleg Alekseevich — he was conscious all the time, even holding the lion's mouth by the fangs, then the lion calmly left him and ran," the spokeswoman said.,

Zubkov was immediately taken to the hospital after the incident. There, he received the necessary medical care, and then was transferred to the N.A. Semashko Republican Hospital in Simferopol and operated on.

"He's come to his senses, he's fine, his arms and legs are fine, he's the only one who speaks very weakly after the operation, but he's already writing and giving orders," Aleksagina said.

A lion attacked the director of the Taigan Park on the afternoon of June 22, injuring the man multiple times. Zubkov was later operated on, and his condition was stabilized.

On June 23, Dmitry Dedkov, Deputy Chief Physician of the Republican Clinical Hospital named after N.A. Semashko, told Izvestia that Zubkov's condition remains stably severe. He added that doctors may conduct an "audit" of the most severe wounds, and based on the results of the examination, they will make further decisions on his treatment.
