The sanctions policy of the European Union (EU) towards Russia will lead it to economic decline. Vladimir Chizhov, the former permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the EU (2005-2022), told Izvestia on June 23.

"If and when, there will be people in the European Union who are able to critically rethink the policy they are pursuing so far, because foreign policy leads them not only to tension in relations with Russia, but it will lead to the economic decline of the European Union itself," Chizhov said on the sidelines of the XI International Scientific and Expert Forum.
