The FSB managed to detain a man who was planning a terrorist attack on a petrochemical complex in Nizhnekamsk. The Office of the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Republic of Tatarstan informed about this on June 23.

"The terrorist's target was a large petrochemical complex in the city of Nizhnekamsk. According to the plan developed by the Ukrainian special services, the detainee was supposed to pick up an explosive device from a cache, carry it unnoticed and plant it on the territory of the enterprise," said Alsu Khairutdinova, an official representative of the FSB in the Republic of Tatarstan.

It is specified that the person involved in the case worked at the enterprise where it was planned to carry out a terrorist act. After all the actions performed, he had to leave the country. As a result of the inspection, law enforcement agencies managed to find an improvised explosive device.

A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with Part 1 of Article 30 of the Criminal Code ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime"), part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code ("Terrorist act"). At the moment, operational search and investigative measures are also continuing.

Earlier, on June 2, the Federal Security Service of Russia for the Primorsky Territory stopped the illegal activities of two 19-year-old residents who were preparing arson on a section of the Far Eastern Railway. It was clarified that they received such a task from the Ukrainian special services for a monetary reward. A criminal case was opened into the incident in accordance with paragraph "a" of Part 2 of Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Sabotage committed by a group of persons").
