The conflict between Israel and Iran, which includes U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, threatens to destroy the global nuclear nonproliferation regime. This was announced on June 23 by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi.

"If the window for diplomacy closes, violence and destruction could reach unimaginable levels, and the global nonproliferation regime could collapse," he wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Grossi clarified that the IAEA inspectors are in Iran, and they must check 400 kg of uranium enriched to 60%. However, this requires the cessation of hostilities.

He noted that the uranium enrichment facility at the Iranian nuclear facility in Natanz was damaged after the US strike. Also, buildings, including those where uranium was being processed, were damaged after a strike on a nuclear facility in Isfahan. In addition, the IAEA has recorded impact craters at the Fordo facility, but it is impossible to assess the damage.

On June 22, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. The ministry stressed that this irresponsible decision grossly violates the UN Charter.

On June 21, the American president announced a successful attack on three Iranian nuclear facilities. He later threatened Tehran with new strikes if peace was not achieved.
