In the Sakhalin region, a lawyer was accused of fraud against a client
A lawyer in the Sakhalin Region has been charged with major fraud against his client. This was reported on June 23 in the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.
"The regional Prosecutor's Office has approved an indictment against a lawyer from the Sakhalin Region who committed attempted fraud against his client under the guise of bribing a law enforcement officer," the agency said in a statement on its Telegram channel.
It is specified that in the period from October 2024 to January 2025, the lawyer, using the trust of his client in custody, convinced him that he would solve his problems with the law with a bribe of 2 million rubles to a law enforcement officer. The money was supposed to be used to retrain the client's actions to a less serious article of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Later it turned out that the lawyer did not want to transfer this amount, but to keep it for himself.
Employees of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in the Sakhalin region stopped his illegal actions. Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Fraud on an especially large scale" is provided for the committed crime. The maximum penalty for it is imprisonment for up to 10 years. The criminal case has been sent to the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk City Court for consideration.
On June 17, the Main Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in Moscow announced that lawyer Sergei Zuev had been arrested on suspicion of murder over real estate. It was clarified that in 2024, Zuev, being on the territory of a country house located in the Solnechnogorsk district of the Moscow region, on the basis of disagreements about the sale of property to him, came into conflict with his friend and struck the victim at least three blows to the heart, which caused the man to die on the spot.
