The mesh structure of the wing and fuselage was included in the design of a promising supersonic passenger liner, which is being designed in Russia. This was reported to Izvestia by Sergey Chernyshev, Vice President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, scientific director of TsAGI.

"This approach allows you to compact the grid in places where there are more loads, and make it less frequent where they are insignificant. This reduces the weight of the aircraft, which largely determines its effectiveness", the specialist explained.

According to him, biosimilar technologies are being introduced in many industries. The same thing happens in the aircraft industry. In particular, bionic mesh structures are replacing the traditional power frame (longitudinal stringers and transverse frames). Their structure is similar to that of tissues in plants or animals.

According to Sergey Chernyshev, the specialists received positive results at the modeling and testing stage. The development of the project will bring aviation materials science to a new level. The Russian design school is the world's leader in this component, the scientist noted.
