Russia increased pork exports by 1.8 times in 2025

In the first five months of 2025, Russian supplies of pork and offal to world markets amounted to about 130 thousand tons worth more than $311 million. Compared to the same period last year, exports increased 1.6 times in physical terms and 1.8 times in value. This was reported to Izvestia by the press service of the Agroexport Federal Center.
"The top 5 countries importing pork from Russia in monetary terms include: Vietnam — about $107 million, China — $73 million, Belarus — $70 million, Hong Kong — $17 million, Serbia — $14 million," the organization explained.
"Thus, exports of Russian pork and offal to Vietnam increased by 1.9 times in value terms. The growth is observed in each of the positions: pork offal (by 6%), pork (2.5 times), pork fat (more was supplied in five months than in the whole of 2024)," said Ilya Ilyushin, head of the Agroexport Federal Center.
According to him, pork exports to China have been growing monthly since March 2025 (and at the beginning of the year, the figures are also higher than last year): January (3.3 thousand tons), February (4.9 thousand tons), March (4.2 thousand tons), April (7 thousand tons), May (8.5 thousand tons).
It is important to note that Russian pork exports to Georgia increased 71 times year-on-year, to $5.5 million. For the whole of 2024, shipments totaled about $5.6 million.
The supply of pork products to Kazakhstan increased 52 times to $4.3 million. In addition, a record amount of pork and offal was imported to India: about 280 tons worth $1 million. The maximum volume was recorded in 2024, when about 240 tons were delivered in 12 months.
"Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture abroad are an important element of the system for promoting Russian agricultural products to foreign markets. The Institute of Representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture is an effective mechanism of assistance to Russian exporters, an important channel for professional communication with government agencies of foreign countries and foreign companies. China is the only country where three agricultural attaches have been sent," the head of Agroexport emphasized.
On May 30, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev announced the need to continue opening new markets for the development of Russian grain exports. He noted that this season on the world stage, the Russian Federation ranks second in barley production, fourth in wheat and is in the top 10 in terms of corn. He also noted that the sowing campaign in 2025 is proceeding at a faster pace.
