- An eyewitness to the situation in the Taigan reported on Zubkov's condition after the lion attack
Yelena Romanova, an eyewitness to the attack on Oleg Zubkov, director of the Taigan Lviv Park, told Izvestia on June 22 about the victim's condition after the incident.
She clarified that she did not manage to catch the very moment of the attack. But when Zubkov was loaded into an ambulance, he, according to her, was in a very serious condition.
"He (Zubkov — Ed.) was feeding the lions downstairs at that moment, and the lion attacked him. <...> We only saw him being driven in this car. His head, face, body, and hands were all covered in blood. <...> There was no living place on him," Romanova said.
In addition, she noted that she was feeding the cubs at the time of the attack. Now, as a result of what happened, she needs to be vaccinated against rabies.
Earlier that day, it became known that while feeding predators, a lion attacked Zubkov and inflicted multiple injuries on him. The director of the park managed to get out of the cage, after which he lost consciousness. Zubkov was taken to the hospital, his condition is considered serious. According to the director of the Mariupol park, Savely Vashura, Zubkov communicated with predators like with children.
