Emergency mode was introduced in Serov, Sverdlovsk region, after a gas explosion in a residential building

In the city of Serov, Sverdlovsk region, after an explosion of household gas in a residential building, a municipal emergency regime was introduced. This was announced on June 22 by the acting governor of the region Denis Pasler.

According to him, there were no victims, five people sought medical help. One of them suffered burns to 63% of his body surface and will be transported to the Yekaterinburg burn center by an air ambulance helicopter. The rest of the victims received bruises and abrasions, in one case a suspected traumatic brain injury.

21 apartments were damaged, including structural elements of the house and attic. There was no explosion or subsequent fire. Gas and electricity are turned off in one of the entrances, the rest are functioning normally. 32 residents were evacuated, eight people are in temporary accommodation.

"69 people are working at the site, including 25 specialists from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the municipal administration, a gas supply company, a management company, and law enforcement officials. Experts reported that there were no complaints from residents of this building about the smell of gas or problems with the draft or hood," Pasler clarified in his Telegram channel.

According to preliminary data, the cause of the explosion was the inclusion of a kettle by one of the residents, despite the earlier smell of gas. A pre-investigation check has been ordered on the grounds of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Provision of services that do not meet the requirements for the safety of life and health of citizens").

The explosion of a gas-air mixture in Serov became known earlier that day. The forces of the unified State System for the prevention and elimination of emergency situations (RSCHS) were involved in the elimination of the consequences.
