The Rosgvardiya honored the memory of the fallen during the Great Patriotic War

In Moscow, at the monument to the Soldiers of the Internal Troops and the Russian Guard, a solemn memorial event was held as part of the departmental action "Candle of Memory", dedicated to the Day of Remembrance and Sorrow. This was reported on June 22 in the press service of the Russian Guard.
The commemorative event was opened by the Deputy Director of the department, Colonel-General Alexei Vorobyov, on behalf of the Director of the Russian Guard, Army General Viktor Zolotov. It was attended by generals and officers of the central office, military personnel and veterans.
Vorobyov recalled that the soldiers of the law enforcement forces were the first to meet the enemy in 1941. He noted that 98,000 NKVD troops died during the Great Patriotic War (WWII), showing courage and loyalty to military duty.
"Today we honor their immortal feat by bowing our heads in memory of those who gave their lives for the freedom of their native land," he added.
The participants also paid tribute to the memory of the fallen participants of the special military operation. The chairman of the Council of Veterans, Lieutenant General Peter Rovensky, spoke at the event. He noted that today the organization's veterans are also participating in a special military operation and supporting the morale of the Russian Guards.
In addition, Priest Roman Bogdasarov conducted a litany for the dead. Those present laid wreaths and flowers at the monuments to Felix Dzerzhinsky, the busts of Infantry General Yevgraf Komarovsky and Army General Ivan Yakovlev.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow. The event took place in the Alexander Garden near the walls of the Kremlin. The Head of State straightened the ribbons on the wreath and bowed his head in front of the memorial.
