A commemorative event was held on the territory of the Krasny Concentration Camp memorial complex in honor of the anniversary of the beginning of the Great Patriotic War (WWII). The Crimean Academic Symphony Orchestra performed Dmitry Shostakovich's seventh Symphony on June 22.

"It's difficult, it's important. And I'm sure this project had its audience anyway. Today it's more about the spirit, about the mood and about memory. We tried to say this today," said Vadim Pervykh, General Director of the Autonomous Non—Profit Organization Crimea Television and Radio Company.

The action was dedicated to the memory of the fallen soldiers of the Red Army during the Second World War and those who died at the hands of the Nazis.

Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Grave of the Unknown Soldier in Moscow. The event took place in the Alexander Garden near the walls of the Kremlin. The Head of State straightened the ribbons on the wreath and bowed his head in front of the memorial.
