- Likhachev spoke about the situation at the Bushehr nuclear power plant after the US strikes on Iran

Alexey Likhachev, the head of Rosatom, commented on the situation in Iran after the US strikes on the country's territory. This was announced on June 22 on the company's official website.
According to him, the situation at the Bushehr NPP site remains calm, the strikes did not affect this part of Iran.
"We are monitoring the development of the situation, controlling it, and in case of a threat to our personnel involved in the construction of two nuclear power plants, we are ready for immediate evacuation. As a first step, we plan to evacuate women and children," Likhachev said.
He stressed that the use of weapons against nuclear facilities is unacceptable because of the risk of catastrophic consequences for the entire region. The head of the state corporation also noted that they are in close contact with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and count on the principled position of this organization in connection with the events.
Likhachev also called for a return to a diplomatic solution to issues related to the development of the Iranian nuclear program, noting Rosatom's readiness to provide technological support when appropriate agreements are reached at the international level.
Russian President Vladimir Putin said on June 20 that American leader Donald Trump had promised to support Russia's demands to ensure the safety of Russian employees at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran. Putin stressed that he was concerned about the situation around Iran's nuclear facilities.
