Iran has the right to be protected from military aggression by the United States. This was reported on June 22 by the Fars news agency, citing a statement by the Islamic Republic's foreign ministry issued after the American attack on nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan.

"The Islamic Republic of Iran reserves the right to defend itself with all its might against the US military aggression and crimes committed by this fraudulent regime," the Fars news agency said.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry also recalled that the US military attack on Iran's peaceful nuclear facilities is a gross and unprecedented violation of the UN Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and deals a crushing blow to the nuclear non-proliferation regime. In addition, Iran has demanded a meeting of the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

"Iran reminds the Security Council, the UN Secretary General, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and other relevant international bodies of their responsibility to take urgent measures against this criminal lawlessness, emphasizing that silence in the face of this blatant aggression exposes the world to unprecedented danger," the Iranian Foreign Ministry added.

The attack on three nuclear facilities became known on June 21. US President Donald Trump said that the attack was aimed at three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. According to Trump, the operation was successful. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in turn, said that American strikes could change history.
