The International Candle of Memory campaign was held in the Luhansk People's Republic (LNR) on June 21. The footage of the event is published by Izvestia..

This action takes place every year on the eve of the Day of Remembrance and Mourning. Its participants light candles in memory of the soldiers who fell during the Great Patriotic War (WWII). This year, as part of the "Candle of Memory" in Gorky Park in the LPR, an installation was created depicting the symbol of the republic, Lugansk region and the entire Donbass — "Battalion Commander".

"I have a large number of young people behind me, a large number of young guys who gathered today in Gorky Park in order to lay out a magnificent picture of the Battalion Commander," Andrei Samoilov, a deputy of the People's Council of the LPR, told Izvestia.

As the organizers noted, the action is not only a tribute to the past, but also a reminder of the importance of historical memory and the continuity of generations.

On the same day, 1,418 candles were lit in Moscow as part of the Memory Line campaign in memory of every day of the Great Patriotic War. On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, several patriotic events take place at once, which not only cover all regions of the Russian Federation, but also spread beyond its borders.
