- Russian military laid flowers at WWII monuments in the DPR on the Day of Remembrance and Mourning

On the Day of Remembrance and Mourning, servicemen of the 27th Guards Motorized Rifle and 90th Guards Tank Divisions of the Center Group of Forces took part in laying flowers and wreaths at the monuments of the Great Patriotic War (WWII) in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was announced by the Russian Defense Ministry on June 22.
The ministry noted that the servicemen of the motorized rifle division laid flowers and wreaths at the monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union pilot Lydia Litvyak in the village of Dmitrovka, DPR. The event was also attended by soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, local residents and representatives of public organizations of the Shakhtersky district of the DPR. Before the event, a rally was held dedicated to the 84th anniversary of the beginning of the Second World War.
The servicemen of the tank division, in turn, laid wreaths at the restored monument to the IS-3 tank in the city of Yasinovataya, DPR, and observed a minute of silence in memory of the fallen soldiers. After that, the regimental priest, Deacon Maxim, conducted a funeral prayer and read a prayer for the repose of the fallen soldiers.
"Today we laid wreaths and paid tribute to all the people who were involved in our victory. This event is very important, it is our story," said platoon commander Lieutenant Andrey Krivoshchekov.
Such events acquire a special meaning and symbolism in the area of the special operation. They show the unity of the army and society, the unity of the entire people, and remind us that the history of our state has always been closely linked to the protection of national interests.
Participants of the annual patriotic action "Memory Line", dedicated to preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War, lit 1,418 candles on the Crimean Embankment in Moscow on June 21. Each lit candle is a symbol of one of the days of those tragic events. The campaign takes place in different regions of Russia and beyond.
