Earthquake of magnitude 5.5 recorded in Ecuador


An earthquake of magnitude 5.5 occurred in Ecuador. This was announced on June 21 on the website of the Institute of Geophysics of Ecuador.
It is specified that the seismic event was recorded at 14:18 local time (22:18 Moscow time). Its source lay at a depth of 45.5 km and was located near the city of Naranjal in the province of Guayas.
No information about casualties or damage was reported.

The European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported on June 20 that an earthquake of magnitude 5.1 was recorded in the northern part of Iran. It was clarified that its epicenter was located 36 km northwest of the city of Semnan, where about 124 thousand people live.
