Russia needs a platform for dialogue between scientists and creative personnel. This was stated on June 21 by Svetlana Balanova, CEO of the National Media Group (NMG), at the session "The Value Agenda as a factor in career guidance for young people for the development of human capital" at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"Yesterday we announced the creation of an open futurological laboratory, because we felt that it was necessary to create a platform where a long-term dream would be created. Because we need a platform for dialogue between scientists and creative personnel, because creative personnel are needed so that they can create the most "beautiful far away," said Svetlana Balanova, CEO of NMG.

It is noted that signs of this "beautiful faraway" are already appearing. Gene therapy, for example, helps patients across the country.

"If I used to tell my patients or the parents of patients that, well, there is a mutation, we can't fix it, well, we can't: what nature has given is given, <...> Now I can't answer so strictly, because there are already technologies that help this mutated The gene should be replaced or strengthened, or, conversely, silenced," said Maria Vorontsova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Deputy Director of the Lomonosov Moscow State University for Science, leading researcher at the National Research Medical Center of Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, member of the Presidium of the Russian Association for the Promotion of Science of the Russian Federation, during the session "Biotechnological Future: sayfai or Reality".

According to her, biotechnologies are one of the key national projects. Without them, neither food security, nor energy security, nor health is unthinkable.

"We can take a gene, it's very large, there may be several mutations, we cram it into the capsid of the virus. The capsid of the virus is designed so that it "floats" into exactly the organ we need. There, it releases this gene that we need, embeds itself, and, please, it will express the protein we need. Voila, and the man is cured. And before that, I had to swallow pills three times a day for my whole life," said Maria Vorontsova.

Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke about biotechnology in the context of structural changes in the Russian economy yesterday at the plenary session, the central event of the forum, where, as always, the vectors of economic, foreign and domestic policy were outlined. The State Duma is already working on some of the instructions.

"Two specific bills: on the platform economy, as far as I know, the government has already prepared, they are going to submit to the State Duma. The second is amendments to the Labor Code, which have not yet been introduced. I think we will make it during the spring session," said Alexander Zhukov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma.

The main outcome of SPIEF 2025 is not agreements and contracts, contacts and new business ideas, although there are also plenty of them, but the growing confidence every year that Russia is a country for business and savvy. And despite the efforts of its opponents, it is one of the centers of the global economy, a natural and reliable partner for many countries, and a pleasure to do business with.

Earlier that day, Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of Russia and Executive Secretary of the SPIEF Organizing Committee, said that 1,060 agreements totaling 6.3 trillion rubles had been concluded at SPIEF 2025. He added that the forum had gathered delegations from 144 countries, including Russia's allies and opponents. At the same time, the atmosphere was filled with optimism about establishing business relations.
