Russia and Venezuela will soon hold the first meeting of the bilateral working group on countering sanctions. This was announced on June 21 by William Castillo, Deputy Minister of Anti-Sanctions Policy of the Republic, on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"We are implementing the memorandum signed last year by the foreign ministers of our countries, and we have already appointed the co—chairs of the group: on the Russian side, the Ministry of Finance, and on our side, my department," he told RIA Novosti.

He added that Russia has formed groups, and Venezuela is completing this process. Castillo stressed that the first meeting of the working group will be held in the coming months.

According to the representative of Venezuela, the goal will be to develop strategies and solutions to neutralize the negative effects of sanctions imposed against the countries.

On May 7, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Venezuelan counterpart Nicolas Maduro signed an agreement on strategic partnership between the two countries in Moscow. Earlier in the day, the Russian leader announced the prospects for cooperation with Venezuela in the fields of energy, pharmaceuticals and transport. In addition, the Russian president stressed that he was satisfied with the development of contacts with Venezuela, which were progressing with Maduro's personal contribution.
