Zakharova named the goal of the West's hybrid war

One of the goals of the hybrid war waged by the West against Russia is to undermine the economic performance of the European Union (EU). This was stated on June 21 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, to journalists on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

According to the diplomat, the EU has been able to become a fairly strong player on the world stage in recent years — its economy has strengthened, and the euro currency has proved secure and stable. In her opinion, the dollar does not have such support.

"The euro currency is secured, the dollar currency is not secured. It was necessary to influence it in some way," Zakharova said.

This, in her opinion, could serve as a reason for the collective West's desire to weaken the European union through hybrid methods such as sanctions and conflicts.

Earlier in the day, Zakharova spoke about protecting Russian youth from the liberal dictatorship of the West. In her opinion, young people should not just be inculcated or indoctrinated, but explained the fundamental moral and ethical norms in order to counter destructive Western ideology.
