Innovative developments are useful to the state, medicine, the patient and the pharmaceutical business. This was announced on June 21 by Konstantin Belanov, director of the Center for the Transfer of Medical Technologies, the Scientific Center for the Examination of Medical Products of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, during the SPIEF-2025 session "Innovations in pharmaceuticals: new opportunities for the development of medical technologies."

"These are developments that are useful to everyone — the state, medicine, the patient and the pharmaceutical business. <...> The State Duma is going to introduce this concept (of an innovative medicinal product. — Ed.). It is interesting not only for industry, but also for federal state budgetary institutions," Belanov said.

According to him, from 2019 to 2024, 31% of new, original, domestic medicines were developed by subordinate institutions of the Ministry of Health.

"Regarding the immediate prospects, 12 new medicines are currently under development, including three of them — radiopharmaceuticals and four drugs based on somatic cells," Evgeny Mikhailov, Dean of the Faculty of Postgraduate and Additional Education at the Almazov Institute of Medical Education of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, said about the new developments.

On June 18, Russian Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko spoke about the share of domestically produced medicines in the Russian market. According to him, Russia is making huge strides towards drug safety, both industrial and scientific, as well as regulatory.
