During the 14 years of Moscow's digital transformation, residents of the city did not need to bring 1.5 billion paper documents to the departments, said Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

As a result, "175 thousand trees were saved, which is about 45 hectares of forest, almost like the park of the Northern River Station," he noted.

Sobyanin recalled that the Basic Register was created in 2011. It is a system of interdepartmental electronic interaction for the provision of public services. Thanks to its appearance, Muscovites no longer have to apply to dozens of institutions — one electronic application is enough. "The departments will independently request documents in digital format, without requiring them from the applicant," the mayor explained.

According to him, the number of digitally accessible services in the capital is constantly increasing.
