The expert spoke about the specifics of preparing for a trip with children

The first-aid kit for flights with children should be assembled taking into account the age of the child and possible situations on the road. Dmitry Gurov, pharmacist and head of the SBER EAPTEK pharmacy, told Izvestia about this on June 22.
"It is important for parents to know the international nonproprietary names (INN) of medicines that may be useful on a trip. This will help you navigate abroad, where trade names may differ, but the INN remains recognizable," he said.
It is reported that syrups and candles are suitable for babies under four or five years old (this is the most sensitive group): paracetamol and ibuprofen for fever and pain, cetirizine and desloratadine for allergies, glucose-salt solutions and smectite suspension for gastrointestinal disorders.
Loperamide is contraindicated in children under two years of age. Saline drops and vasoconstrictor sprays will help with nasal congestion, and if the child does not know how to blow his nose, it is recommended to use a nasal aspirator. On the plane, moisturizing eye drops "artificial tear" and a basic set for abrasions and irritation will be useful: alcohol-free antiseptic, patches, ointment with dexpanthenol.
For children over the age of five, you can add tablet forms, and along with the listed drugs, take a throat remedy for pain and tickling — benzydamine in the form of a spray and antiseptic lozenges, as well as dimenhydrinate in motion sickness tablets. The same drugs as for adults are suitable for teenagers, but taking into account possible specific needs.
It is important to consult with a pediatrician before traveling, especially for chronic diseases or allergies.
Before the flight, medicines should be distributed among the hand luggage of all family members and checked in advance to see if the drugs require special storage conditions that are not available on the plane. It is also better not to put essential medicines in your luggage — the temperature in the cargo compartment is not controlled.
It is advisable to keep the original packaging and instructions. If you take prescription drugs or medications in a volume of more than 100 ml (for example, syrups or injections), you need a doctor's certificate indicating the diagnosis, INN, dosage and regimen, preferably in English.
It is specified that this year, according to a study by Aviasales, the share of foreign trips with children reached 29% of all air tickets purchased for the summer. Makhachkala (18%), Kaliningrad (13%), Mineralnye Vody (12%) and Ufa (12%) are also among the top family destinations of the summer.
Thailand is the leader among foreign destinations, with 25% of tourists planning to fly there with their children. Vietnam (17%), Turkey (15%), Egypt (15%) and Armenia (13%) are also popular.
On June 17, it was reported that interest in student tourism had increased by one and a half times. The Ministry of Education and Science clarified that since the beginning of 2025, 57 thousand participants have registered in the Studtourism program.
