NATO member states will not accept Ukraine into the alliance for fear of a direct clash with Russia. This was reported on June 21 by the publication Foreign Affairs.

"A consensus within the alliance on inviting Ukraine to join has not been reached and is unlikely to materialize in the foreseeable future. By doing so, they made it clear that the alliance does not believe that defending Ukraine should justify a war between NATO and Russia," the article says.

It is noted that "the pretense of European partners about the country's accession to NATO further weakens Ukraine's position," since the Ukrainian leadership will inevitably fail in such an issue. Instead, the article suggests that Ukrainians look for more realistic options for securing their future.

On June 11, Bloomberg reported on the exclusion of Ukraine from the final statement at the NATO summit in The Hague. It was noted that the declaration focuses exclusively on defense spending, which is in sharp contrast to last year's statement.
