In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, a child handed over almost 3 million rubles to fraudsters.

An eighth-grader from Achinsk transferred almost 3 million rubles to fraudsters in order to allegedly save his parents from criminal liability. This was reported on June 21 in the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

"A 14-year-old eighth-grader from Achinsk became the victim of a cruel deception. Fraudsters, playing on the child's fear for the family, stole his parents' savings," the press service said in a Telegram channel.

It is specified that in May of this year, an unknown person called the boy demanding to confirm the account in the messenger, intimidating him with the name of the school principal. As a result, the student told the fraudster an SMS code.

Later, the eighth-grader allegedly received a call from Gosuslugi service specialists and informed him about the theft of his parents' data. After that, the boy was transferred to a "financial control officer," who informed the student about the possible arrest of his parents in connection with the "financing of terrorism."

The scammers told the child that in order to avoid criminal liability, the child needed to be shown his apartment via video link. Later, the attackers asked the child to take the phones from his parents, install biometric access on them and transfer all the family's savings to the specified banking details. In addition, the scammers remotely issued a loan and forced the student to transfer all the funds received.

A criminal case was opened into the incident under Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud").

On June 20, the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Nizhny Novgorod region reported that an 18-year-old girl had given a safe containing $100,000 to fraudsters in order to protect her father from alleged criminal liability. Wanting to save a relative, the victim handed over the safe with the required amount to the courier.
